Can you put a Motor on my existing Garage Door or Gate?

In most cases we can! The existing Garage Door or Gate needs to be in good working order and have some room allowance to motorise; Southern Peninsula Garage Doors, Gates & Automation can provide you with a free quotation.


Do you have replacement Remote Transmitters?

Yes, we have a wide range of remote control transmitters, receivers, P.E beams and other accessories. Note: Transmitters are not pre coded to your motor so all transmitters will need to be coded into your motor. Southern Peninsula Garage Doors, Gates & Automation can also assist you if required help to code them in.


How often should I have my Door or Gate Serviced?

Southern Peninsula Garage Doors, Gates & Automation recommend that servicing of Garage Doors and Gates should take place every twelve to eighteen months. Weather, environment (corrosion sea air) and general wear can cause issues with the mechanics of Doors & Gates. Please contact the office on 03 5985 5100 with queries relating to service bookings and information pertaining to associated call out rates and charges. If correct maintenance and servicing are not carried out, warranty may be void.


I want to replace my old Door/Gate, but don’t know how to dispose of it?

Southern Peninsula Garage Doors, Gates & Automation can organise to complete a removal and disposal of your existing Garage Door/Gate or Motors before replacement.


I bought a motor over the internet/ in a hardware shop; Can you install it?

S.P Garage Doors, Gates & Automation recommend that remote control units for Garage Doors and Gates are purchase through a reputable seller. This will ensure proper follow up for customer support and warranty requirements. However if you have purchased a motor privately we can attend the property to inspect the motor and see if we can assist you for an installation only job. What can I do to look after my product myself?

Yes: You can perform a health check on your products. SAFETY NOTE: To avoid injury, it’s a good idea to let everyone in your household know that you are checking the Garage Door/Gate/Remote Control System and that it is not to be opened or closed by anyone until you tell them you are finished. If something doesn’t look or sound quite right; it could be a symptom of a more serious issue. Have it inspected by a trained service technician: call 03 5985 5100 to set up a service appointment.


Garage Doors:
What can I do to look after my product myself? 

GARAGE DOOR: Monthly visual inspection. Stand inside the garage with the garage door closed. Look over the garage door springs, cables, rollers, pulleys and mounting hardware, such as hinges, for signs of wear or damage. Look for cable wear or fraying. Is the mounting hardware becoming loose? Is the door opening & Closing smoothly? If you believe there is an issue, have it inspected by a trained technician: 03 5985 5100


Gates:
What can I do to look after my product myself?

GATE: Monthly visual inspection. Observe the Gate closed and opened. Look over any hinges, springs, rollers, and mounting hardware looking for signs of wear or damage. Is the mounting hardware becoming loose? Or is the Gate not aligned when shut? If something doesn’t look quite right – or doesn’t sound quite right – it could be the symptom of a more serious issue. Remote Control System:
What can I do to look after my product myself?

REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM:

  • Monthly visual inspection.
  • Open & Close the Garage Door or Gate that the Remote Control System is using.
  • Check for insects- Insects that get into the circuitry can cause damage and electrical faults. Is it running smoothly, and at an acceptable speed?
